Our goal is to give you the healthy, straight, and beautiful smile you’ve always wanted. We understand that choosing to receive orthodontic care is a big decision and we respect your reasons for wanting to improve the way you look and feel.
Madison Orthodontic Centers will work with you every step of the way to make sure your orthodontic care is as rewarding as possible. Dr. Kuhn utilizes the latest technology, and offers a variety of safe and gentle treatment options to give you the customized, individual care you deserve.
Every smile starts with a complimentary initial exam!
Your initial exam will give you the opportunity to meet Dr. Kuhn and learn more about orthodontics. During your initial exam we will:
- Review your dental and medical history forms, including a Covid-19 questionnaire and HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices document
- Perform a brief screening orthodontic exam to determine whether treatment is necessary now or in the future
- Formulate a tentative customized treatment plan
- Discuss all financial information, insurance options, and payment plans

What happens after the initial consultation?
After the initial orthodontic screening exam, we need to do a more comprehensive pre-treatment analysis in order to prepare and confirm every patients customized treatment plan. To do so, we need to obtain photographs, jaw and dental X-rays, and then fabricate plaster dental study models.
It takes Dr. Kuhn one to three weeks to evaluate these "diagnostic records" and present the final treatment plan to the patient and parent at the "treatment conference" appointment. At the treatment conference, the finalized treatment is presented, along with written financial/insurance documentation. Treatment can now begin.
We feel this orderly process is welcoming to patients and easily understood. However, some patients/parents wish to begin treatment immediately. If scheduling permits, we are happy to accommodate these requests as well.
Scheduling Appointments
Visiting Dr. Kuhn about every four to eight weeks is an essential part of your orthodontic treatment. The scheduling and length of every appointment depends on treatment progress. The majority of appointments will take 20 minutes or less.
We see many patients every day. Please be on time for your appointments and try not to miss any. We want to make as much progress as we can every visit.
Our practice will work with you to make sure your adjustment appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know which days and times work best for you.
We understand that “life happens”! If you’re running late or need to reschedule, please let us know and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
Visiting the dentist during orthodontic treatment
It is vital that you continue to visit your family dentist once every six months for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups, even during your orthodontic treatment. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure you receive the best possible care.
